COVID-19 Update

May 11, 2020 UPDATE:

Dear Iowa Endodontic Patients:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our country has been through a lot over the last few months and we are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. A lot has changed in our world, but Iowa Endodontics’s commitment to the safety and well-being of our patients, team members, and our community is still a top priority.

Our practice has always been focused on infection control and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. We would like to reassure you that although Iowa Endodontics already utilizes standard disease control precautions as outlined by the Center of Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Dental Association (ADA) and Iowa Dental Association (IDA), we are currently exceeding these expectations to further help prevent the spread of this virus and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for you and our team members. We will continue to follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and team members. For example

  • We ask that when you arrive at Iowa Endodontics P.C, you call our office phone number (515-965-4456). A patient ambassador will meet you at the door to welcome you.
  • We will be modifying our scheduling and minimizing the number of people entering our office at any given time. We are asking that anyone accompanying you to your appointment to wait in their car during the appointment time.
  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask for some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive.
  • All of our patients are asked to wash their hands for 20 seconds prior to entering and exiting the treatment rooms.
  • Your temperature, pulse, and oxygen levels will be taken before you enter the treatment area.
  • Since hydrogen peroxide has been shown to reduce the virus, all of our patients will be asked to do a 60-second rinse with hydrogen peroxide prior to their dental procedure.
  • We have always used the rubber dam for our root canal procedures and we will continue to do so.  The rubber dam has been shown to greatly reduce the aerosols during a dental procedure.

We have engaged our entire team in additional infection control training and supplemental ongoing training related to COVID-19.  If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our team members.  Thank you for your trust and confidence in our practice.  Iowa Endodontics is looking forward to making your root canal a positive experience. To make an appointment, please call our office at 515-965-4456 or visit our website at iowaendodontics.com.

Sincerely,

Dr. Schaeffer and the Iowa Endodontics Team
